“A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there”
I have not blogged in a really long time. It feels great to sit down and write again. Today is a very different blog post and I am just going to get right to it before I find a reason to not write it.
When I first launched my Photography & Doula business it was pretty scary to put myself and my gifts out there. I know this fear held me back for far too long from following my dreams. I always found an excuse. Truth is there is really no right time to start anything and there will always be a reason to not do something…. am I right? So here I am once again feeling this fear but I am going to honour those feelings and push right through them and share my big news with you all.
On April 1st I picked up keys to my very own studio!! I have been casually looking for a space for over a year but nothing felt quite right. A few weeks ago I made an appointment to view a studio at ARTlington Studios and the moment I walked in that front door I just knew. This was it. This historic building has amazing energy. The studios are full of talented artists and it’s really an honour to work so closely to other creatives. I can’t wait to get to know all of them. The entire building is inspiring. Vintage items line the halls, walls and ceilings and it feels like a real-life treasure hunt never knowing what will catch your eye next. It’s super cozy, happy and everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It is just right. Plus I grew up not far from Arlington street and the west end has always held a special and familiar place in my heart.
Over the past couple weeks I have been collecting items that have their own memories and reflect my vision of the space and my personal style of photography. My creativity is flowing and the space is already coming together. Today I spent some time rearranging and playing with the available light. (I will be adding in a bit more light) I’m so inspired and so excited. My vision is: vintage~romantic~comfort~homelike~classic toys for the little ones~textures~cozy~lace
My in-studio sessions will have the same vibe as always. My goal remains to capture you and your loved ones in a natural and organic way. When you come into my cozy studio I hope that you will feel relaxed and the session will be laid back and fun. Smiles, laughter and memories made. The studio will also be a quiet, private and cozy place to meet with Doula & Birth Photography clients.
As soon as I am a bit more settled I will be extending an offer for a model call. If you would like to be added to my email list to find out more please get in contact here.
I am always open to collaborating and meeting other local artists and birth workers so please reach out. I’d really love to hear from you.
And lastly here are a few sneak peeks!
With love and gratitude,
