Winnipeg Birth Story Photographer – Catherine Brown
Happy Birthy New Year!
As we say goodbye to 2016 and welcome 2017 I look back on 2016 full of gratitude. As Birth Photographer and/or Doula I had the privilege and honour of attending 12 births in 2016. That’s 12 times I witnessed women and their partners find their inner strength. 12 times I watched new life begin. 12 birth-day parties. 12 stories filled with strength, support, passion, hope and joy. 12 babies take their first breaths and 12 families that grew not only in numbers but also in love.
I also had the joy to document numerous Fresh 48 sessions as well as gorgeous newborns, beautiful families and glowing maternity sessions. So many love filled stories captured in time.
Somewhere in between I attended the Birth Becomes Her Professional Birth Photographer Workshop in beautiful Denver, Colorado which was a huge step for me not only professionally but also personally. Throughout this year I grew so much and made so many new friendships and relationships along the way with other Photographers, Doulas and Birth Workers both locally and globally.
In 2016 my work was shared on blog posts by Baby Centre and Buzz Feed. I even had an image on Instagram shared by The Birth Hour go to over 16, 000 likes! Wow! It is pretty wild to see your work loved and shared all over the world. After all photography and birth are very universal and the images don’t require written language to tell a story.
To all my clients that have trusted me to be their Birth Photographer and/or Doula thank you so very much! I also really want to thank our Manitoba Midwives, Birth Centre Assistants, Nurses and Doctors for being welcoming to me as a Doula and Photographer into birth spaces. I still giggle when I hear “Whoa that is a serious camera!” Yes! Yes it is!
If you have been considering hiring a Birth Photographer for your upcoming birth please do not hesitate to get in touch! I would love to hear from you.
Here is a quick year in review from Birth Stories & Fresh 48 sessions in 2016.
With love and gratitude,
